Mum.

I've kept quiet for the last week and half out of fear of jinxing the situation for Tahra's next assignment.
I think things are falling into place and aren't likely to go haywire at this point, so I think I can safely say that we'll be in Washington, DC for her next assignment (roughly January '06 to January '08).

As Tahra put it in an e-mail, we avoided the "Delhi belly." But now we'll have to deal with the "DC key fee" (how's that for a "Washing-ton rhyming-pun?" Can't stop me now; I'm on fire!) -- aka incredibly high living expense.

Unlike our last stint in DC, Tahra will not be getting per diem to help cover the high costs of housing there.

But, we'll be much closer to home, and will have all of the conveniences that we've missed for the last two years -- especially being able to read signs and speak fluently with the locals. Well, I hope I can still speak fluently with the locals.

Now Paul, be serious when have you ever been able to speak with the locals?:) Hope you can find some good housing cheaply.

Washington still speaks English. Virginia officially amended its costitution to make "Baby Talk" the official language. So pack a pacifier.

Did the CDO allow this new position, or did you you have to sneak past her? Jaimala and I checked the rental market in DC. It's a little pricy, but I think you and Tahra will be able to find a nice place you can afford.
