Rebenji ob da Shiss

It's the end of an era.
The Star Wars saga has come full circle.*
Finally, we know what that line about the Clone Wars meant in A New Hope. Finally, we see how Anakin Skywalker becomes Darth Vader.

Revenge of the Sith (see phonetic Korean pronunciation above) is a pretty darn good film. Of course, it'll never beat the very first one, but it blows Return of the Jedi (and Episodes I & II) away, and even gives Empire Strikes back a run for its money.

I left the theater with sadness. Partly because the movie is so dark, and Anakin's fall was depressing -- but also because I will likely never see a new Star Wars film.

The phenomenon that warped my young mind and continues to affect me -- to the point of collecting countless expensive chunks of plastic and even getting tattoos -- has come to an end.

Sure, there will be more Star Wars products -- there are rumors of a TV show among other things -- and unofficial stories by various writers will continue, but those "inspired by" products just don't cut it for me. I want the real thing. Even though Episode I was terrible, and a complete waste of film time that could have been applied to expand the events from Episode II up through IV, it was still the "real deal."

It is now, more than ever, while I'm wondering if this truly is the end, that I wish Yoda's words were true: "No. There is another."

* The rumored episodes after Return of the Jedi have never been more than rumor.

Looks like you will be left with only planning solid days of watching all six movies and hunting for small details you didn't catch in the first 20 viewings. Glad you liked it. I'd rank it right about where you did only Empire is better than New Hope in my book.

So I take it you won't be interested in my soon-to-be-published book of poetry "Inspired by what may have been Episodes 7, 8 and 9"? Can't tempt you with such titles as "Yoda was my daddy, so what does that make me?", "Womp Rat--Evolution First, then Empire," and "R2--Mindwiped again?!"

By the way, the old droid memory wipe seemed an all too easy explanation. I was hoping for something a little less throw away. Hardly an "aha!" moment.

I felt the same as you, Paulie. Well, I don't have the tattoos or the action figures (anymore, in the latter case), but I was pretty bummed. Even while I was watching it. Of course, I haven't yet seen it on the big screen, which really sucks. I would not advise buying one from the Korean street vendors, unless their versions are a little more official, and a little higher quality, than what this area has to offer. Boo.

So now we know that Leia was wearing a retro hairstyle in Ep. IV. And that Jedis like to get it on. There's a bad joke about Hayden being a wooden actor that I'll let you tell yourself.

Enough. I feel for you, Paul. I honestly do. Glad Part III cracked the top three for you.
