I have a newfound appreciation for those who are early to bed and early to rise: if someone else does it, I don't have to! But alas, We have only a little time left to enjoy D-What's mom's natural tendency to rise early.
Her primary goal in coming to Beijing was to spend time with the boys, whom at different times she called Buttons and Putski (only once each, but of course I seized on those names). I also learned a word that was completely brand new to me -- and I'm not even sure how to spell it: nixnooks?
We've managed also to get her out to see a few sights: the Dirt Market, the Summer Palace, the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, and a day tour to the Ming Tombs and the Great Wall at Mutianyu. At Mutianyu, she picked up a hoodie sweatshirt proclaiming in both English and Chinese "I climbed the Great Wall." The Chinese portion, according to her, says "something about 'ching chong'" (after we told her that "Wan Li Chang Cheng" is the Chinese name for the Great Wall).
But seriously, it's been great having some extra hands with the twins (especially in the mornings!) and someone making some treats (cookies, meals, etc.).
We're down to approximately 8 months left in Beijing, so if you want to visit, best make your plans now!
