Back in the Saddle

I have made a not-quite-as-triumphant-as-I'd-like return to console gaming. With the recent acquisition of a Wii, I am once again playing a Legend of Zelda game for hours on end.

But I feel a bit... awkward. I mean, the last console machine I played regularly was none other than the original 8-bit Nintendo. Sure, I played the occasional game on a friend's Sega Genesis, or Playstation, or XBox, but for nearly a decade and a half I've been more at ease with a keyboard and mouse than a dedicated game controller.

As far as console games go, I'm used to 1 directional "plus" pad, an A button and a B button. Not something with multiple thumbsticks, 4+ thumb buttons, -and- 2+ trigger buttons for each hand. At least the Wii-mote is similar to the original Nintendo controller. Except for the motion sensors, and the attachable "nunchuk" controller.

So far so good. I'm getting the hang of it.

Now, if only Halo 2 for the PC didn't require Windows Vista... ugh.

Hey - at least you are in the living room where I can see you. Bonus for me. =)
