Movers and (hopefully not) Shakers

The packers/movers have come and gone, taking with them much of what makes up our home. In boxes from several different moving companies, from several different countries, our furniture, electronic entertainment devices, knick-knacks, and more have disappeared, carried off by Korean men in official-looking jackets. Our hope? That they do not end up at the bottom of the ocean, or become damaged otherwise before meeting up once again.

So I sit in a cold, echo-ey house, with only cleaning activities and a laptop computer to while away the time. Today was spent cleaning the fireplace, vacuuming, and removing petrified cat snot (she's got a condition, you know) from the walls. If webs are spun, what's the opposite of that? In any case, I also did the opposite of spinning cobwebs.

Tomorrow likely will hold fun with a carpet shampoo machine.

We have concluded our D&D campaign here, with the possibility of continuing the game in DC in summer 2006, when 4 of the 6 participants will be there on assignment.

By the way, if you'd like to meet the writer of this blog, I will be on tour in Minneapolis/St. Paul late December to mid January. Venues and dates TBD.

As if to tempt us to stay (to seem like Minnesota here), it snowed the other night. I wanted to see what the digital camera could pick up, so I dashed outside and fired off a few shots with the flash. Here's one of the results:

Anyway, not long now. 10 days (not that I'm counting). Until now, I had always associated homecoming with a stupid school dance and an even more stupid football game for which we marching band nerds had to perform at halftime. It's taking on a whole new meaning.

See you soon!
