So, the official assignment has been made: Mumbai, India.
It's exactly what I was expecting, so I can't say I'm surprised. Not happy, but not surprised.
Tahra's CDO has offered a position in Washington as an alternative, if we deem Mumbai unacceptable. We need to decide by Thursday.
Now, I have to weigh my need for clean air, desire for fast/reliable internet connectivity and untroubled bowels, and overall dislike of Indian food (perhaps more accurately its dislike of my digestive tract) against the extreme expense of living in the DC area on (most likely) only one income.
Do I want to be bored and frequently (continually?) ill in a dirty place where I don't know anyone but living is cheap, or do I want to be bored and less frequently ill in a cleaner place where I don't know anyone but living is incredibly expensive?
Choices, choices.

Would you be on a base in India? You could just get really comfortable with the KFC, MCDonalds, and whatever other fast food places there are on base. I'm sure there would be some good things about it. It's a tough decision though and I hope whichever you choose ends up working out.
No base. Almost no fast food. There are probably some good things, but I'm having a hard time seeing them at the moment, considering this assignment was numerically third from the bottom of our bids (#17 out of 19), though in my mind tied for last with #18 and #19.
Internet connectivity, the only thing that would help me keep my sanity, is terribly slow and unreliable there, too...
That sucks. I guess you'd get really good at Doom 3 and could see alot of
Baliwood films. Life just isn't going nearly as well as it could be right now.
