Need vacation from vacation

[Note: this was delayed by errors when trying to publish this post. It really was written on Tuesday.]

So, it's the day after the U.S. Labor Day holiday. Presumably, Shane and Jaimala are married -- and I missed it (yes, your wedding gift is late, but it will be coming!).
As punishment for not attending, we had a fairly miserable "vacation" to Yeosu, a port town at the south end of the Korean peninsula. At the "deluxe" tourist hotel (an important distinction, as many hotels in Korea are love hotels) where we stayed, the A/C was not working (or they chose not to turn it on since there were few guests), the hotel had little information on tours (the area is supposedly known for boat tours around the scenic islands nearby), and what information they had was not in English.
Though that last bit wasn't too much of a hindrance for us, it was no small effort to learn about and arrange participation in such a tour. We got up early (6:15 a.m.! On vacation no less!), went to the ferry terminal, paid our $130.00 and took the ferry for two hours over stomach-churning waters to the first island where we would catch the second boat to the true destination.
Upon arrival at the first island, they inform us that the seas are too rough to do the boat tour. So there we are, on this 6 mile long island, stuck for 7 hours until the ferry goes back to Yeosu. Our stomachs weren't doing so well, and of course the only thing to eat there is fish. We had packed some snacks for the boat tour, so we decided to explore a little. The 2 or 3 taxis on the entire island were quickly taken by the Koreans, so it was sit and wait, or go on foot.
We wandered, using a small map we had gotten back at the hotel. We (well, D-What really) found a little trail that turned out to lead up the mountain to a decent vantage point of a rock formation at the island's edge (I'll try to post a picture here).
Eventually, we returned to the harbor and had some grilled shrimp -- whole -- that I had some issues with in terms of removing heads and legs, but was very tasty. Finally, we took the ferry back, on even worse seas than earlier. Having had enough of Yeosu, we took an earlier train back to Seoul.
I guess it was an OK experience, but had I known what it would have been, I'd have much rather stayed in Seoul.
