Concessions

No, not the hot dog stand at the stadium.

Thanks (in no small part, I'm sure) to a letter from the American Foreign Service Association (AFSA) expressing AFSA's opinion that termination was "unduly harsh," embassy management decided to ease up and give me a chance to stay in my position in Housing, albeit in a modified capacity. However, if I were to stay, an unknown disciplinary action would be meted out by the HR home office in Washington.

Having no desire to burden people with complicated modifications to my position, and having no desire to remain in the position I was trying leave, I have chosen to resign. This will allow me to avoid any disciplinary actions on my record, and leave cleanly.

Speaking of clean, tomorrow I officially resume duties as the housekeeper – I fired the second one last week. Hopefully I do a good enough job (and don't write bad things about the management) that I don't get terminated as well!

Sort of ironically, the new shoes that I had ordered so I had some nice ones to go with the new suits I recently had made just arrived. At least I can look good while vacuuming.

Well not having the ding on your record sounds like a good thing. I hope you get good at cooking and cleaning.
