Several Sentences in a Group

Jeez, another 3 weeks since my last post. Maybe I should just re-name this blog to "The Every Three Weeks Blog" or something. We've been busy, though. Today we tried out a new housekeeper, who seems to be pretty good (if pricey). Last weekend included a Chinese holiday, so we used the opportunity (and an extra day of leave) to visit our friends in Seoul. It was our first time back since December 2005. We had a great time:



The few days we spent there really made us miss Korea even more, and we really didn't want to come back to Beijing.

And I don't know if it's my extreme boredom at work (well, when I'm in the office anyway -- it's not bad when I'm out on a housing inspection) or if there are other factors, but in the last week or so I've really gotten the urge to write something. Something big. Book big.

Problem is, I don't know what to write about. What genre?

I've always wanted to write some kind of sci-fi or fantasy story, but I don't know that I have any new/unique ideas. Every time I've worked on generating ideas, it seems that they're all derived from elements of other stories. I also feel like I'd need to learn a hell of a lot more than I currently know about actual science stuff in order to write convincingly about the things you tend to find in science fiction.

I've also thought about trying to write about our lifestyle -- a commentary on life in the Foreign Service. At this moment in time, though, such a work would likely turn out more pessimistic than interesting. And even if I could temper it, would anyone want to read something like that?

Well, back to World of Warcraft. Maybe something there will spark a new idea.
