Dilemma

After interviewing for a few different positions at the embassy, I have been offered one, albeit an unspectacular one for which I suspect I was the only applicant.

Now I have to decide if I actually want it. Perhaps you can give me some advice -- but it must be quick, since I have to accept or decline no later than Thursday.

If I take it:
1) Obviously, income and money put into a retirement account = good.
2) The job might suck. It doesn't sound particularly engaging.
3) If I accept this one, I am not allowed to apply for another job for 90 days. Might miss a better opportunity.

If I don't take it:
1) No income, etc.
2) A better opportunity might come along and I'd be unable to apply for it.
3) A better opportunity might not come along -- or at least not for a while.

I've got some serious thinking to do. I've got about 36 hours.

How often DO such opportunities come up? Are they few and far between such that missing one in the 90 day window would be terrible? Often enough that it's not so bad? Random enough it's worth taking the chance and hoping?

Also, is there a certain time-period in which to apply (like there's a mandated 2 week period for applications to come in after an opening is posted)? 'Cuz if there is, and something good came up at the end, you could sneak your app in just after the 90 days maybe but before the application period is closed.

*shrug* If you take this one, then you'll have money & once the 90 days is over, then you'll be sitting pretty with a job and can apply then whenever something better comes up. So maybe take this one NOW to have a job and get that 90 day wait out of the way.

I'd say the same as Ms. Huis, but with less words.

Yeah, I'm often rather verbose. :)

Wog, what did you end up doing?
