So we've been here a little over a week. I've seen some things, experienced some things, and learned some things.
I set foot in an IKEA for the very first time.
I found a Chinese snack/candy I like. And saw a lot that look scary.
I revised my assessment that traffic was bad in Seoul. It's got nothing on traffic here. I wish I had an extra set of eyes just so I could watch out for cars, bikes, and everything else on the road. When I think of the traffic here, I just think "Robo Rally."
I am not fond of dishes in which the entire chicken, minus head (but including the neck), are just hacked up and dumped in. Bones and my digestive tract aren't good friends.
There are a hella ton of people here. Never shop at a Carrefour in Beijing on a weeknight.
In general, the past week or so has shown me how crazy good we had it in Seoul (and no, the air was never as bad there). Now I really want to see how a third overseas post is, to determine if this is par for the course or we're just having a run of bad luck.
On a positive note, I'm already applying for a job in the embassy, and there may be another possibility soon.

Best of luck on the job front! I hope things start getting better soon.
