It's Done

Today I had my end of term test for Chinese. Yes, I'm done. I agonized over the decision for a month, and ultimately decided that it was a good time to withdraw, considering the pace and the material to be covered over the next several weeks. I'm still not 100% sure it was the right decision, but it feels like a huge weight has been lifted. So, after 27 weeks, I scored a 1+/0+ (as the State Department rates language skill - that's [speaking]/[reading]). They expect you to reach a 2/2 after 44 weeks, so I feel pretty good about the speaking score. Not as happy with the reading score, but recognizing those characters is tough.

Anyway, now I can catch up on some sleep, pick up some more hours at the store, and still have more time for Guitar Hero et cetera (or household chores, as D-What is already fond of pointing out).

Yay house chores...I mean video games. Congrats on doing at least pretty well on the tests. I'm sure you'll pick up more once you are there and cope with that your wife is way better at it than you.
