The fourth edition of the beloved Dungeons & Dragons game will soon be here. In fact, I am spending a good portion of the next four days at a convention in the area (DDXP) which features the very first glimpses of "4E" for the public.
Yes, I'm playing hooky from Chinese class Thursday and Friday.
And yes, I'm still in the class with the crummy classmate -- I'm doing my best to ignore it. But, I may be concluding my participation in the class after the week-long review (next week) and interim progress test that follows. I discussed things with one of the teachers, and learned that after the progress test, the focus turns toward vocabulary and usage in very specific diplomatic work situations (talking about political/economic/whatever issues, etc.). I feel that, while any Chinese learned is helpful to some degree, I really don't expect to use such specific technical terminology. What I need is to review and refine day-to-day Chinese, since that's what I'll use.
Nothing's decided yet, so I may just stick with it. But then, getting back some semblance of non-zombie life is so tantalizing.
