I touched on this back in June '05, but I am a firm believer in a cosmic law I like to call "You Like That, Do You? Well, Too Bad!" This law simply states that if I like some product, then inevitably it will be discontinued (or stop being carried anywhere convenient). This always happens while I am still regularly using/appreciating it during the normal life of the product and wish to acquire more of it (as opposed to something old that has become technologically obsolete). Here are just a few examples of items it has affected: There are countless others, which I am failing to recall right now. What I wonder is: does this law only (or mostly) apply to me? Or do other people suffer from it as well? And, if it does affect others, how often and on what kinds of things? Do products that appeal to me just not appeal to enough people to keep the product going? This next bit is actually a little old, but it rears its hilarious head from time to time so I thought it best to write about it:
Back in April, DiploWhat's parents came to visit, and one day we were headed into DC to see the sights. It was raining, and we had made a stop at a Staples to get some of my D&D maps laminated. DiploWhat's dad went into the nearby Eckerd pharmacy to see if they had some kind of rain gear. He found a "One Size Fits All" rain poncho. A poncho. As in, a large water-repellent sheet with a hole in it to put your head through. How can a poncho be anything but "one size fits all?" Unless you're so big you need a boat tarp or something to cover your bulk, I'm pretty sure a poncho is going to fit everybody. It still cracks me up to this day.

I have something similar. If I see an ad that I think is clever, funny, or interesting then I know that it will be pulled from circulation soon never to be seen again. I just accept this and do my best to avoid watching any advertising.
