I attended the Winter Fantasy gaming (roleplaying, etc. -- not gambling) convention at the Hyatt in Crystal City (Arlington, VA) a few Saturdays back. The experience reaffirmed my suspicions from attending GenCon in 2003 that I am, in fact, too pretty to be a gamer.
Having lived with my appearance my whole life, and apparently always having befriended other good-looking gamers (which I would realize only after attending conventions and seeing the full cross-section of gamer society), I never fully understood the comments I would read or hear about gamers' poor appearance and/or lack of social graces. Now I do.
No offense to anyone who was at GenCon in '03 or Winter Fantasy '06 who believes himself or herself to be unattractive and may think I am intentionally insulting them -- I'm not. But I am better looking (and more fit and more sociable) than at least 90% of you.
Admittedly, I do exhibit some aspects of the gamer archetype: quiet, independent/loner (what can I say, I'm INFP on the Myers Briggs Type Indicator). But, I'd like to think I'm friendly enough to overcome the negative associations there.
My research will continue at GenCon in August!
On an only slightly related note, I played in the D&D Miniatures War Drums pre-release tournament at Winter Fantasy. I did well in the first three rounds, with two wins and a loss. It was all downhill from there, and I ended with a 2-3 record. Ah well. Good practice for me for winning the World Championship at GenCon!

Agreed. You are VERY pretty.
I never knew Aaron was such a poet! Must be because he is stoic.
