Bring on the Ladies!

Well, this birthday will certainly be a memorable one -- not so much because I'm turning 30, but rather because the celebrators are so different from those at birthdays past:
Tahra and I spent Sunday afternoon playing board games with three "Ms. Kims."
Last night, we had a little celebration with one of my students (also a Ms. Kim) and a co-worker (this time, Ms. Lee).
Today, my so-called fan club* treated me to a nice lunch, cake, and more gifts than they should have. (I'm already planning "revenge" to get them back.)

The recurring theme, if you haven't noticed, is they're ALL women. Of course I don't mind, but it's definitely an anomaly. For 30 years, I've never had this kind of attention from the ladies before. Like I said, I'm not complaining -- far from it. It just lends a different... something... (? feel/mood/tone?) to the situation. Difficult to express.

In any case, I'm curious: why are they flocking to me now? Why didn't they do so before I got married? ;-)

* Ms. Lee (same one mentioned above), plus another Ms. Lee, Ms. Kwon, and Ms. Baik -- the other other Ms. Kim (that makes five!) could not attend, though Ms. Chung joined us.

On a completely unrelated (or is it?) topic, I had these images forwarded to me today. Supposedly, they are stress tests. The images are static**, but will appear to move depending on your ability to manage stress. The slower they move, the better you are at handling stress. The first two turn lazily for me, but I get sort of rippling/swirling waves from the third.

** if you don't believe me, try covering part of them with another browser window -- you'll see.

I think it's BECAUSE you're married that they flock to you. That, and that you don't have the flat Korean nose. =) It's a known phenominon that guys always get more women approaching them after they're already in a relationship, engaged, or married. Something about seeing a guy who's stable enough/not afraid of commitment to be in a relationship is attractive.

Oh my gosh! HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY! Darn, I knew it was coming up and I *still* managed to miss it. Worst. Friend. Ever.

I hope you had a fabulous birthday. 30! You're so young! :-)

I've discovered that high school girls find me attractive. About fifteen years too late, but whatever. It makes Jaimala laugh, so that's nice. If you really want to get some female attention, have a baby. Then you'll be the Mayor of Flirt City.
