It's worse. Or... better?

It's worse than Lusaka: all but two of our original 15 bids are gone -- no longer "viable." Tahra has received a request from her CDO (career development officer) to submit "supplemental" bids.

Basically, this means they need bids for the crap that no one bid on.

That's BS -- we already submitted 50% more bids than required (10 required, we submitted 15), and if they can't work with the system they've established, that's their problem, not ours.

So now I think we're going to submit a bunch of bids on posts that require language training (which they normally don't do twice for an untenured officer, but it has happened) for cool places like Istanbul, Kiev, and Prague.

So maybe it'll be better than some on our original "viable" list...

Sounds like signing up for a radio show at KUMM. You guys are near the bottom of the totem pole, and are getting hosed for it. Or you simply put too many country club locations on there. Just don't put Kabul down.

Would language training involve being back in the States? Again best of luck on getting a winner on the roullette wheel that the bid list seems to be.

No, neither Kabul nor Baghdad are going on the list.

And language training would mean back in Washington, DC.
