Yet I'm still only getting paid for the work of one. And reinforcements don't arrive until mid-August.
But in happier news, D-What passed her language test and we took a mini vacation to Thailand to celebrate and relax. Now, since she won't have homework every night, we might actually be able to get out and see/do some things!
And now, a stumper for those out there more tech-savvy than me: we're trying to pump both video and sound signals out of the laptop (which is the only DVD player we have that reads the local discs). We can successfully get both video and sound to our TV, but when we try to send it through our stereo receiver to try to get a better sound experience, we can get the video to pass through the receiver to the TV, but no sound reaches either the receiver or the TV. Anyone know what the deal is there? Our receiver book mentions a "digital media port (dmport)" but I have scoured Amazon for a cable that has HDMI on one end and this "dmport" on the other end and can't find a thing. In case you're wondering, the dmport jack would look something like this (but not exactly):
I also hope to get some more photos uploaded to the Flickr album soon. Keep an eye on it!

Ugh. Doing three jobs for the price of one is not good math!
That whole tech part went straight over my head.
I think that DMPort refers to a proprietary cable. Did you get something w/ the receiver? I'm assuming that your receiver doesn't have an HDMI port, correct? Does it have an SVideo connection that you could use plus RCA jacks for the sound?
