So.
I am need of new shoes, and know of no place to shop for them the way I am accustomed to shop for shoes (go into the store, try them on, and so on). I am reluctant to order shoes online, as I will be unsure of how well they fit.
I am also in need of a visit to a dentist. And I have heard many horror stories of the sanitary conditions at Korean dental offices.
The perfect solution would seem to be to fly to the US, to familiar (and clean) situations. Yet due to the annual spike in student travel to the US, compounded by the Korean system of booking flights (you can reserve and hold a flight without payment until about 2 weeks before it departs) I cannot even book a flight to attend a good friend's wedding (or the bachelor party, for that matter).
Perhaps the visits from friends and family in September, October, and November will inject a bit of familiarity back into things. And, by the beginning of October, D-What's bids for the next assignment will be submitted. If only we knew what was available for bidding. Any hopes or predictions from my faithful readers? (You can post them in "comments" below.)
Well, I've got Magnetic Poetry and the new They Might Be Giants CD to keep me busy for a while.

"Toothshoe" makes me think of Gene Simmons from Kiss. http://www.kissfanshop.de/GeneSimmons/gene76boots1.jpg
Are there no Payless Shoe Stores© in Korea? Are they savages? Actually, I've had good experences ordering shoes online, though I've never had to send them back. That might be a serious hassle in your situation. I've never had luck with online dentistry.
Speaking of TMBG, they've got a video for "Experimental Film" on homestarrunner.

Whoever you are (I have my suspicions) how did you come up with that pic and the Homestar Runner stuff so fast after I posted this?
I'm guessing that since it's August 4, the magnetic poetry and They Might Be Giants CD have ceased to keep you busy. I think if you would have stowed yourself on an ocean going vessel a few months ago, you could have made it to MN by now to attend the bachelor party.
Meh. Here's hoping that your feet don't get too sore, and that Tahra has learned to play dentist.
If your looking at online deals for shoes. I have bought my last 3 pairs of shoes online from Zappos.com. They also let you return your shoes for up to a year I believe as long as they are in the same condition as when they sent them to you (new).
Canada? Mexico? Maybe Jamaica?
